Rancocas Valley Moves to No. 1 in South Jersey Mean 15 Entering Week 5

Rancocas Valley takes over the top spot in the South Jersey Mean 15 high school football rankings, with key Week 5 matchups set for Friday and Saturday.

With October about to begin and many programs turning toward the postseason, the newest South Jersey Mean 15 high school football rankings feature a change at the summit. Rancocas Valley now leads the list, making it three different No. 1 teams in three weeks after both Glassboro and St. Augustine lost their grip on the position.

Rancocas Valley (5-0), which moved up from second, has recorded four shutouts in a single season for the first time since 1987. According to local historian Chuck Langerman, the program record is six, set in 1932. The Red Devils travel to Millville (3-1) for a Friday game at 6 p.m.

Washington Township (5-0) holds second, up one place, behind the longest winning streak in the state at 19 games. The Minutemen have scored 21 or more points in each of their past four contests and piled up 340 yards of offense in the most recent one, with 226 coming on the ground, their second-best rushing figure of the season. Cherry Hill East (0-5) visits on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Millville rose from seventh to third on the strength of back-to-back wins in which senior Reggie Holley ran for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Senior Robert O'Connor has equaled the school benchmark of 55 career touchdown passes, a mark originally set by Nate Robbins in 2021. The Thunderbolts welcome Rancocas Valley on Friday at 6 p.m.

St. Augustine (4-1) dipped from first to fourth despite producing 21 offensive touchdowns, 13 of them via the pass. Junior Zehkiy DeJesus tops the Hermits with 17 catches, 410 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions. They host ninth-ranked Burlington Township (4-1), winner of four straight and 14-2 since the start of the 2025 season, on Friday at 6 p.m.

Fifth-ranked Glassboro (4-1) has won its past two games by a combined 83-6, adding its first shutout of the year after collecting eight in 2025, and meets Willingboro (0-5) at home on Friday at 6 p.m. Camden (3-1) stays sixth with three consecutive victories and an 83-30 scoring edge across that stretch before heading to Texas for Permian (5-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Atlantic City jumped from 11th to seventh as junior quarterback Marvin Burroughs lifted his season passing total to 926 yards and his career figure to 3,627; that team plays at Mainland (1-4) on Friday at 6 p.m.

Winslow Township (3-2) fell from fourth to eighth after consecutive defeats to St. Augustine and Atlantic City in which it gave up 88 points, and the Eagles visit Red Bank Catholic (4-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. Unbeaten West Deptford (5-0) remains 10th, having limited opponents to 16 points across five games, 3.2 per contest, while forcing 15 turnovers, 10 of them interceptions, ahead of a Friday 6 p.m. game at Overbrook (2-2). Shawnee (4-1) climbed one place to 11th with more than 1,600 yards of total offense through five weeks, 1,066 of them on the ground, plus 19 offensive touchdowns, 14 rushing, and plays at Lenape (2-3) on Friday at 6 p.m.

Ocean City (4-1) occupies 12th, where junior quarterback Jackson Becker has accounted for more than 1,000 yards of offense and 13 touchdowns heading into Saturday's 10 a.m. home game against Oakcrest (4-1). Haddonfield (4-1) tumbled from ninth to 13th when West Deptford ended a four-game unbeaten run, scoring 28 points against a defense that had yielded 32 through the first four weeks; the Haddons go to Paulsboro (3-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Fourteenth-ranked Eastside (4-1) brings a four-game winning streak, with only six points allowed in that span, to Cedar Creek (0-5) on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. Pleasantville (2-3) joins the list at No. 15 after starting the season unranked, with two of its three defeats decided by a combined three points, and hosts Holy Spirit (1-4) on Friday at 6 p.m. The rankings were assembled by Tom McGurk, regional sports editor for the Courier-Post, The Daily Journal and Burlington County Times who has covered South Jersey sports for more than 40 years, and the report first appeared in the Cherry Hill Courier-Post.
