Adrian Hill's crew gets Saints-Raiders assignment for Week 3

The veteran referee leads one of the NFL's most flag-happy crews into Sunday's meeting between New Orleans and Las Vegas.

Veteran NFL official Adrian Hill has been assigned to referee the Week 3 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders, according to Football Zebras.

Hill broke into the league as a side judge and line judge in 2010, moved to field judge in 2013, and was promoted to referee in 2019. He has led his own officiating crew for eight NFL seasons.

Penalties could be a storyline in this game. Through two weeks of the 2026 season, Hill's crew has thrown the second-most flags in the league, with 40 penalties accepted or assessed, including two that were declined. The calls have been split evenly, with 19 going against home teams and 19 against visitors. Last season the crew ranked sixth in penalties, calling just two more fouls on road teams than on hosts.

One trend stands out above the rest: no crew has flagged more false starts this season than Hill's group, with 13 such calls. That figure nearly matches the next two crews combined, per NFLPenalties.com.

Both teams have been relatively disciplined so far. The Saints, coached by Kellen Moore, are tied for the seventh-fewest penalties in the league with 11 through two weeks, while the Raiders have committed 12. New Orleans has, however, given up more penalty yards than Las Vegas, 88 to 71.

The teams' penalty profiles differ in other areas as well. The Saints offense has earned five first downs via penalty, compared with three for the Raiders, while the New Orleans defense has surrendered just two first downs by penalty, against four for Las Vegas.

History adds a note for each fan base: New Orleans is 3-4 in games Hill has refereed, while Las Vegas is 0-3.
