Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will take part in Wednesday's practice, head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters. Darnold has been sidelined since early in the season opener with a soft tissue injury that has been difficult to put a firm timeline on.
Macdonald indicated Darnold would not take every repetition on Wednesday, with the plan to increase his workload over the course of the week. The Seahawks hope to reach a decision on whether he can face the Washington Commanders in Week 3 by Friday.
Backup Drew Lock has started in Darnold's absence and helped Seattle to a 2-0 record. If Darnold is not cleared, the Seahawks are prepared to continue with Lock under center.
In other injury news, the Seahawks are not opening the 21-day practice window for running back Zach Charbonnet this week. Under injured reserve rules, he must miss two more games.
