Houston-Area Week 5 Slate Features Undefeated Showdowns and North Shore Test

Cy-Fair visits Cypress Falls in a battle of 3-0 teams, while Atascocita travels to second-ranked North Shore on a busy Week 5 schedule across the Houston area.

District play ramps up across the Houston area in Week 5, headlined by a Thursday meeting between unbeaten Cy-Fair and Cypress Falls at Pridgeon Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Both teams enter at 3-0, and the winner figures to be an early frontrunner in District 16-6A.

Cy-Fair is ranked No. 18 in the state and is scoring 44.6 points per game behind quarterback Sean Riegler, who has nine touchdown passes through three games. No. 22 Cypress Falls won last year's meeting 37-21 behind three touchdown passes from Christian Ndujiuba and a nine-sack defensive effort. The Golden Eagles have taken the last two in a series Cy-Fair leads 10-8 since 2004.

Friday's marquee game sends Atascocita (3-1, 1-0) to Galena Park ISD Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff against No. 2 North Shore (4-0, 1-0). North Shore blanked Crosby 58-0 last week, while Atascocita rolled past Humble 43-7 behind 225 passing yards from Corbin Smejkal. The Mustangs have won 11 straight over the Eagles and lead the series 12-2 since 2016.

Undefeated Waller hosts Fulshear at 7 p.m. Friday at Daikin Stadium to open District 23-6A play. Both teams are 3-0, with Waller junior quarterback T.K. Gaines accounting for 1,147 yards and 12 total touchdowns through three games.

Also Friday, Bridgeland (2-1) visits 3-0 Cypress Ranch at 7 p.m. at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium for the schools' fifth meeting. The series is tied 4-4, though Cypress Ranch won 23-14 last season.
