Week 5 of the Texas high school football season wrapped up its Friday slate across the state, with results compiled by the Associated Press covering both Houston-area matchups and games from throughout Texas.
In the Houston area, several games produced lopsided margins. Huntsville posted an 84-0 win over Spring Woods, while North Shore kept Humble Atascocita off the scoreboard in a 35-0 victory. Houston Christian rolled past Beaumont Kelly 59-0, and Klein Collins shut out Klein Forest 49-0.
Other Houston-area results included Katy's 30-3 win over Cinco Ranch, Bridgeland's 31-14 defeat of Cypress Ranch, and a narrow 42-40 contest in which Cypress Ridge edged Cypress Creek. Dekaney held off Spring 31-28, and La Porte outscored Beaumont West Brook 45-42.
Clear Falls beat Clear Brook 52-21, Dickinson dominated Clear Springs 59-7, and Deer Park downed Houston Clear Lake 62-7. Summer Creek defeated Humble 35-12, Paetow beat Seven Lakes 41-10, and Ridge Point handled Clements 40-3.
Statewide, the highest-scoring game on the board was Abilene Christian's 86-74 win over May. Borden County outlasted Whiteface 75-69, and Grandfalls-Royalty put up 74 points in beating TLC Midland.
Among other notable statewide results, Austin Westlake beat Midland Lee 49-6, Allen defeated Princeton 65-7, and Euless Trinity rolled past Irving 62-9. Arlington Martin knocked off Aledo 35-21, and Edinburg Vela edged Los Fresnos 49-42 in a District 31-6A-area shootout.
A midseason milestone arrived Thursday in Houston, where Cy-Falls defeated Cy-Fair at Pridgeon Stadium. The game included a fumble recovery by Cy-Falls' Kaden McCarty, celebrated with teammate Kaiden Jones, according to Houston Chronicle coverage of the matchup.
