Florida has opened a college football season 3-0 for the first time since 2019 and sits among the 35 unbeaten FBS teams heading into Week 4. The Gators visit No. 4 Ole Miss on Saturday with an opportunity to pick up their first win over a top-five opponent in more than a decade.
ESPN's Bill Connelly reviewed all the remaining undefeated teams after Week 3 to judge which starts are sustainable. He pegged Florida's chances of finishing 12-0 at 2.3%, noting the defense remains unproven after allowing 39 points and 5.7 yards per play to an Auburn offense that had struggled against Baylor in Week 1.
The offense, coordinated by Buster Faulkner, has been the driving force with 162 points through three games. Florida beat FAU and Campbell by a combined 94 points and put up 44 on Auburn, averaging 54 points per game while ranking first nationally in points per possession.
Quarterback Aaron Philo has thrown for 721 yards and six touchdowns, and running back Jadan Baugh, a Heisman Trophy hopeful, has scored eight touchdowns, including a 162-yard, three-score rushing performance Saturday.
