The latest Kentucky high school football statewide media poll keeps Beechwood atop Class 2A following its win over Covington Catholic.
Beechwood remained the No. 1 team in Class 2A in the newest Kentucky high school football statewide media poll, released ahead of Week 6. The Tigers earned 12 first-place votes after defeating Covington Catholic, a result that keeps an undefeated season — which would be the program's first since 2021 — within reach. Owensboro Catholic took the remaining three first-place votes at No. 2, with Lexington Catholic third.
The poll, the third of the 2026 season, was assembled by Jason Frakes of the Louisville Courier-Journal from ballots cast by 16 media members around the state. Trinity holds the top position in Class 6A with all 16 first-place votes, ahead of Frederick Douglass and Manual. In Class 5A, Scott County leads with six first-place votes, while Pulaski County sits second with nine.
Highlands paces Class 4A with 13 first-place votes, followed by Boyle County and Paducah Tilghman. Christian Academy of Louisville claimed all 16 first-place votes to lead Class 3A, where Lloyd Memorial moved up to fourth. Pikeville tops Class 1A with 14 first-place votes, and Dayton — among teams receiving votes in that class — continued to close ground on the top 10 after another lopsided victory.
