Isaac TeSlaa's start to the 2026 NFL season has been quiet. Across the Detroit Lions' opening two games, the wide receiver has hauled in only two catches for 26 yards without a score, on six targets, good for an average of 13.0 yards per grab.
With Detroit set to face the New York Jets in Week 3, receivers coach Scottie Montgomery addressed reporters on Wednesday. Per Detroit sports reporter Brad Galli, Montgomery indicated the receiver's chances 'are going to be limited' going forward.
Montgomery explained that the team's first and second reads have consistently been available, meaning TeSlaa's snaps should mostly arrive in 'pressure situations' such as fourth down and red-zone plays.
Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams remain the clear top two options in the passing attack, with Sam LaPorta also in the mix. Short of an injury to one of them, a larger workload for TeSlaa does not appear likely, and some Lions fans have reacted negatively to the coach's remarks.
