Aysia Proctor, a senior guard who joined Purdue women's basketball as a transfer from North Texas, said Sept. 23 that a knee injury will sideline her for all of 2026-27. She shared the announcement on social media, writing that she never imagined her season unfolding this way and that basketball means a great deal to her.
Proctor arrived in West Lafayette after averaging 14.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game at North Texas last season, shooting 42% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range. In American Athletic Conference games, her 42% mark from beyond the arc topped the league. She earned a spot on the conference's second team.
Her college career began at UTSA, where the Schertz, Texas, product started 20 games as a freshman and averaged 9.7 points before moving into a reserve role as a sophomore, when she scored 4.5 points per game. Her career-best outing came Jan. 17 against Rice, when she played all 40 minutes and scored 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
In her announcement, Proctor said she is focused on approaching rehab day by day and returning stronger, adding that the injury is a setback but not the end of her story. Her absence drops coach Katie Gearlds' available roster to 13 players.
Purdue faced a similar situation last year, when Taylor Henderson, a transfer from UNC Wilmington, tore her Achilles on the opening day of practice and sat out the entire 2025-26 season.
